Salmo 33

Salmi – Capitolo 33  

Inno alla Provvidenza

[1]Esultate, giusti, nel Signore;
ai retti si addice la lode.
[2]Lodate il Signore con la cetra,
con l’arpa a dieci corde a lui cantate.
[3]Cantate al Signore un canto nuovo,
suonate la cetra con arte e acclamate. 

[4]Poiché retta è la parola del Signore
e fedele ogni sua opera.
[5]Egli ama il diritto e la giustizia,
della sua grazia è piena la terra.
[6]Dalla parola del Signore furono fatti i cieli,
dal soffio della sua bocca ogni loro schiera.
[7]Come in un otre raccoglie le acque del mare,
chiude in riserve gli abissi. 

[8]Tema il Signore tutta la terra,
tremino davanti a lui gli abitanti del mondo,
[9]perché egli parla e tutto è fatto,
comanda e tutto esiste.
[10]Il Signore annulla i disegni delle nazioni,
rende vani i progetti dei popoli.
[11]Ma il piano del Signore sussiste per sempre,
i pensieri del suo cuore per tutte le generazioni. 

[12]Beata la nazione il cui Dio è il Signore,
il popolo che si è scelto come erede.
[13]Il Signore guarda dal cielo,
egli vede tutti gli uomini.
[14]Dal luogo della sua dimora
scruta tutti gli abitanti della terra,
[15]lui che, solo, ha plasmato il loro cuore
e comprende tutte le loro opere. 

[16]Il re non si salva per un forte esercito
né il prode per il suo grande vigore.
[17]Il cavallo non giova per la vittoria,
con tutta la sua forza non potrà salvare.
[18]Ecco, l’occhio del Signore veglia su chi lo teme,
su chi spera nella sua grazia,
[19]per liberarlo dalla morte
e nutrirlo in tempo di fame. 

[20]L’anima nostra attende il Signore,
egli è nostro aiuto e nostro scudo.
[21]In lui gioisce il nostro cuore
e confidiamo nel suo santo nome.
[22]Signore, sia su di noi la tua grazia,
perché in te speriamo.

Hymn to Providence

[1] Rejoice, you just, in the Lord; praise is fitting for the upright. [2] Praise the Lord with the harp, sing to him with the ten-stringed harp. [3] Sing a new song to the Lord, play the zither with art and cheer. [4] For right is the word of the Lord and all his works are faithful. [5] He loves law and justice, the earth is full of his grace. [6] By the word of the Lord the heavens were made, by the breath of his mouth every host of them. [7] As in a wineskin he gathers the waters of the sea, it closes the abysses in reserves. [8] Let all the earth fear the Lord, let the inhabitants of the world tremble before him, [9] because he speaks and all is done, commands and everything exists. [10] The Lord undoes the designs of the nations, it frustrates the plans of the peoples. [11] But the Lord’s plan stands forever, the thoughts of his heart for all generations. [12] Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people he has chosen as heir. [13] The Lord looks down from heaven, he sees all men. [14] From the place of his dwelling scan all the inhabitants of the earth, [15] he who, alone, shaped their hearts and includes all their works. [16] The king is not saved by a strong army nor the brave for his great strength. [17] The horse is not good for victory, with all his strength he will not be able to save. [18] Behold, the eye of the Lord watches over those who fear him, on those who hope in his grace, [19] to free him from death and feed him in times of hunger. [20] Our soul waits for the Lord, he is our help and our shield. [21] In him our hearts rejoice and trust in his holy name. [22] Lord, your grace be upon us, because in you we hope.
