Salmo 34

Salmi – Capitolo 34  

Lode alla giustizia divina

[1]Di Davide, quando si finse pazzo in presenza di Abimelech e, da lui scacciato, se ne andò.

[2]Benedirò il Signore in ogni tempo,
sulla mia bocca sempre la sua lode.
[3]Io mi glorio nel Signore,
ascoltino gli umili e si rallegrino.
[4]Celebrate con me il Signore,
esaltiamo insieme il suo nome. 

[5]Ho cercato il Signore e mi ha risposto
e da ogni timore mi ha liberato.
[6]Guardate a lui e sarete raggianti,
non saranno confusi i vostri volti.
[7]Questo povero grida e il Signore lo ascolta,
lo libera da tutte le sue angosce.
[8]L’angelo del Signore si accampa
attorno a quelli che lo temono e li salva. 

[9]Gustate e vedete quanto è buono il Signore;
beato l’uomo che in lui si rifugia.
[10]Temete il Signore, suoi santi,
nulla manca a coloro che lo temono.
[11]I ricchi impoveriscono e hanno fame,
ma chi cerca il Signore non manca di nulla. 

[12]Venite, figli, ascoltatemi;
v’insegnerò il timore del Signore.
[13]C’è qualcuno che desidera la vita
e brama lunghi giorni per gustare il bene? 

[14]Preserva la lingua dal male,
le labbra da parole bugiarde.
[15]Stà lontano dal male e fà il bene,
cerca la pace e perseguila. 

[16]Gli occhi del Signore sui giusti,
i suoi orecchi al loro grido di aiuto.
[17]Il volto del Signore contro i malfattori,
per cancellarne dalla terra il ricordo. 

[18]Gridano e il Signore li ascolta,
li salva da tutte le loro angosce.
[19]Il Signore è vicino a chi ha il cuore ferito,
egli salva gli spiriti affranti. 

[20]Molte sono le sventure del giusto,
ma lo libera da tutte il Signore.
[21]Preserva tutte le sue ossa,
neppure uno sarà spezzato. 

[22]La malizia uccide l’empio
e chi odia il giusto sarà punito.
[23]Il Signore riscatta la vita dei suoi servi,
chi in lui si rifugia non sarà condannato. 

Psalms – Chapter 34

Praise to divine justice

[1] Of David, when he pretended to be mad in the presence of Abimelech and, being driven out by him, went away. [2] I will bless the Lord at all times, his praise always on my lips. [3] I glory in the Lord, listen to the humble and rejoice. [4] Celebrate the Lord with me, let us glorify his name together. [5] I sought the Lord and he answered me and freed me from all fear. [6] Look at him and you will be radiant, your faces will not be confused. [7] This poor man cries out, and the Lord hears him, he frees him from all his anxieties. [8] The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear him and saves them. [9] Taste and see how good the Lord is; blessed is the man who takes refuge in him. [10] Fear the Lord, his saints, nothing is lacking to those who fear him. [11] The rich are poor and hungry, but those who seek the Lord lack nothing. [12] Come, children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the Lord. [13] There is someone who desires life and long for days to taste good? [14] Keep your tongue from evil, lips from lying words. [15] Stay away from evil and do good, seek peace and pursue it. [16] The eyes of the Lord upon the righteous, his ears to their cry for help. [17] The face of the Lord against evildoers, to erase the memory from the earth. [18] They cry out, and the Lord hears them, he saves them from all their distress. [19] The Lord is near to those who are wounded in heart, he saves the broken spirits. [20] Many are the misfortunes of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him from all. [21] Keep all his bones, not even one will be broken. [22] Malice kills the wicked and whoever hates the righteous will be punished. [23] The Lord redeems the lives of his servants, whoever takes refuge in him will not be condemned.
